Mary & Matt | Winter Wedding at Camp Lucy

This wedding had it all. More than a few new treats for me! I absolutely loved shooting this Winter wedding. From the beautiful combination of bridesmaids, junior bridesmaid and flower girl dresses to the decor chosen by the bride- it was all so fitting. Camp Lucy is already a top venue for Texas weddings in my book, and this bride and groom brought in amazing touches to make everything feel completely wintery and welcoming. The girls had such a blast getting ready, and Natasha & Kate of All Dolled Up only helped with their amazing 90’s radio mix! Before we knew it, it was time to walk down the aisle. It was twilight, with the harp playing and candles lit, adding light to the romantically dim ambience beneath the oak trees. The chandelier in the archway at the end of the path was a perfect way for the guests to focus on the bride and groom as they said their vows. There were tears all over and you could really feel the love as they talked to each other. The way they listened and stared lovingly into each others eyes was right out of a movie. *(the romantic string lights from the trees only added to that…) Now when I said this wedding had it all, here is where it really kicks in. After they were pronounced man and wife they rang the bell and we took a couple portraits before letting them run into their reception. Then I saw why they wanted to rush in! They had a PETTING ZOO!!! Ah! I got to hold a LEMUR. Seriously. I had to include those photos, because, well… lemur. Other animals were there but I grew attached to the little guy (or girl?) then went over to check out the caricature artist doing an amazing job on guest portraits. Another reason I love Camp Lucy is their use of Whim Hospitality. When I see Jeffery Spruce getting things done as I set up my detail reception shots, I know I am going to be eating good. I hardly rave about wedding caterers- but Whim Catering is top of my short list! The whole night was filled with dancing- guests of every age kept the dance floor full thanks to the crazy good mixes by the DJs at JPL Entertainment. You could tell that the love was not just between the bride and groom. By the end of the speeches I felt as if I knew these families and I loved everything I heard. Besides the traditional dances, the bride shared a dance with her mom which had everyone feeling all the feels. Beyond the filled dance floor and fun cake cutting *(ok, smashing) they went above and beyond for me to get their night portrait. Let’s just say lighting a sparkler in the middle of an intense wind storm is not that easy! But we made it happen. I wish this entire group nothing but happiness… they left their night in a vintage Ford mustang through a tunnel of sparklers. All in all- a wonderful and magical winter wedding.
