Caylie & Nick | A Bright South Congress Engagement

Engagement sessions should never be stressful!

Stress over outfits if you want, but even there I say bring your top picks and I’ll choose the best two looks for your location and setting.

You never know how busy your town or venue is going to be when you’re shooting- so if you can already determine to go with the flow? You’re set.

These two seemed to be set on staying relaxed and enjoying the time during the photo shoot, and that’s photographer gold! South Congress can be a constant flow of pedestrians and tourists, so I love finding those little tucked away spots. That way it seems like we had the place to ourselves.

We used some of the iconic Austin graffiti and also tapped into the newer wall murals closer to the Capitol Building. The Austin city skyline is always changing as I walk over the Congress Bridge and I love it. It means I will never have exactly the same views…  and it means I’ll never get bored.

As the night creeped in, we used the romantic lights of the Paramount Theatre to add some more classic drama into the set.  It’s why I’m sure I could never work in a studio… I love the life that the city brings to my lens. It brings just as much to the table as I do,  and as each couple does when they give it their all for the time we have in their session.

Caylie and Nick finished off with our Texas Capitol Building close by. Also nearby?? A crazy wrestling match that was going on inside what looked like a typical office building on Congress Ave. Because, well, this is Austin.

As if I wasn’t already so excited to shoot their wedding- I just looked up a link to Caylie’s dress and it. is. STUNNING. Stay tuned for their wedding portraits after their big day!

Congrats to Caylie & Nick!

I love your Austin engagement shoots, they really show off the flavor of the city while not overwhelming the couple. Really gorgeous one from this Austin wedding photographer!
